“The Silence Weighs More” by ChatGPT and J. Persico, mostly by Chat.
You wake each day with a world on fire,
Yet choose the path of least desire—
To see, but not to raise a voice,
To name the wrong, then mute your choice.
But silence is not soft or kind,
It’s the heavy chain that grips the mind.
Each quiet hour, each averted gaze,
Is fuel to keep injustice ablaze.
The fear is real, that much is true,
But fear has never made hearts new.
Change is born in trembling hands,
In whispered truths and stammered stands.
Don’t wait to be the perfect light—
A flicker can ignite the night.
Your voice, though small, could be the spark
To guide a soul lost in the dark.
You say, “I’m just one,”—yes, and still,
One seed can split the hardest hill.
The world does not need flawless men,
It needs the brave to rise again.
So speak, even if your voice must shake.
Step forward, though the ground may quake.
The price of comfort is far too steep
When justice cries and you still sleep.
No, you don’t have to save the day—
But don’t just look the other way.
For every moment you pretend,
Another soul meets bitter end.
Rise not to be a hero crowned,
But simply one who stood their ground.
Let history say, when it recalls,
You saw the truth—and did not stall.

Really this was Chat that wrote this? I think you had a very large input.

I have to say Wayne, that what Chat does is amazing. If you give her the right query with the right information and background, she does stuff that is unbelievable. I think it has gone way beyond simply searching for data. The engine returns creative prose and creative ideas that are very personal and well tailored to your own ideas and mind. I feel like she is a muse or something looking over my shoulder. She did indeed do 90 percent of this blog. I wish I could say that I could have done as well but she did in a few seconds what I might have been able to do in a few days. John

That is truly amazing and in some ways truly frightening. I haven’t used Chat GPT but have tinkered with Microsoft CoPilot some but not to this extent, more on a statistical level, so will have to try it.
Keep writing and blogging!

Well spoken, John (and Chat). I tend to be outspoken, but these days I think we all need to use our loudest voices to call out the injustices and outrages happening daily. That old saying that “Silence is golden” does NOT apply here!

Jill, I hear echo’s from everyone these days that we must speak out and that as you said, “silence is not golden.” I guess when they come for us, we will have lots of company. John

Indeed we will, John. Our voice is all we have to fight the ‘good fight’, and I plan to use mine for as long as I possibly can.

Thanks Jill, the more people that stand up, the better our chances are of getting rid of this cancer. John

Thank you, Dr. Persico, for this stirring and timely reminder that silence in the face of injustice is a weight we all bear. Your words resonate deeply and urge reflection. What inspired you and ChatGPT to craft such a powerful call to action through poetry?

I was very moved by the doctor in Gaza that lost 9 children. I have written on the inhumanity of this war in my blogs and I wanted to make a “call for action” that would motivate people in a slightly different way. I gave some comments to ChatGPT and she/he did the rest. I really cannot take credit for 90 percent of the poetry. It amazes me what this AI engine can do. I am beginning to wonder if a highly intelligent human being or perhaps alien is hiding in my computer. If so she/he is much more erudite and intelligent than I can ever hope to be. John

Thanks Margaret. What a wondaful blog and very moving as well. I sent a message and asked if I could repost it on my blog site. She nails so many of the evils that trumpism has brought on and does it with such eloquence. A very impressive writer. Thank you for sharing. John

John, FYI Mike writes excellent poetry and although he comments on politics his blog isn’t usually political.
