If you want to know about me.  Read one of my blogs.   I have also posted a 3 minute video (see biography link above)  After, I am gone, the world will little note nor long remember me, but I hope my ideas, stories and thoughts will live on.

  1. Pick a subject or topic or idea that you are interested in
  2. Put the topic in the search engine on my site
  3. Read my blog on the subject
  4. Tell me why you agree or disagree
  5. Share my blog on your site with your friends
  • I write about points of view that are contentious and challenge the status quo.
  • I write about life, death and how to live a better life.
  • I write about Gandhi, Jesus, God and the Devil.
  • I write about politics, religion, sex or any subject that is taboo or that I think needs challenging and a fresh perspective.
  • I write to challenge conventional thinking about subjects like justice, freedom, truth, education, drugs and immigration.
  • I tell stories that are designed to be uplifting and inspirational.
  • I give advice on planning and living a more productive life.
  • I give ideas on how to use time better and how to be more successful.
  • Don’t just read one of my blogs.  Read several.  Search for subjects.  You will find many that you will either like or hate.

Many of my blogs are illustrated.  Some are designed to be read to music where I have links to some songs.  One of my favorite things to do is to use music as a way of expressing ideas about life.  For instance, see:

But can we really learn to love again?

Please don’t just read my blogs.  Please re-post them.  Comment on them.  Share them with your friends.  If you hate them, please tell me why.  Don’t be afraid to tell me they are terrible or if you think that I am wrong.  Life thrives on variety and your ideas are part of that variety.

I try to answer all comments.

HI Dolores. I am not happy with the Democrats position on Gaza and the Ukraine. I detest Trump and have written many blogs about him over the past 8 years. I am glad that Kamala too the reins but that is not enough. We have an economy and system that is the real Evil Empire for most of the world. I think we have a better chance of changing things with Kamala but we need to have a major movement once she is in to change the course of much of our current US myths and policies. Not sure if it is possible. IMHO. I have attached a few links below that spell out some of my political beliefs.

    Dear Dr John Persico Jr,

Thank you for contacting and subscribing to my multidisciplinary website. Since no one has yet made any substantial comment here and provided substantive feedback on your website, I shall be the first to do justice to your endeavour.

As far as I know, your website entitled “Aging Capriciously” is a digital autoethnographic project that serves as a repository for narrative gerontology, modern scepticism and cultural critique. It challenges traditional views of aging by using a modified Socratic method and critical deconstruction to reframe later life as a phase of intellectual exploration and active social engagement. In other words, “Aging Capriciously” reframes aging as an active, intellectual pursuit rather than a passive decline by utilizing creative storytelling, philosophical inquiry and critical analysis to address topics ranging from US healthcare and politics to meaningful relationships and social issues.

As a systems thinker who applies principles of quality control to the human experience of aging, you have initiated this digital autoethnographic project to explore complex topics like AI limitations, healthcare challenges and social issues through a mix of personal reflection, music and Socratic dialogue.

As an interactive digital notebook, “Aging Capriciously” is a digital, systems-thinking exploration of aging led by you, featuring essays and fables that analyse philosophy, politics, art and science. The project employs Socratic methods, political critique and even fictional storytelling to challenge conventional thinking and explore human nature.

I have therefore subscribed to your website in congratulating your commendable endeavours and celebrating your intellectual prowess.

I look forward to interacting with you on my website, whose most recent post features my interdisciplinarity and multidisciplinarity through the lens of a collaborative project. The post is entitled “👁️ Visualizing 🎼🎹—THE—🎹—LAST—🎹—RAG—🎹🎵🎶 with SoundEagle🦅 音鷹 and Friedrich Zettl 狐胡 🎨“.

            Dear Dr John Persico Jr,

I have not had the chance to read Marshall McLuhan’s works directly, even though I am aware of his contributions. Many scholars from the 1960s and 70s do bear a great deal of interests and relevance. Speaking of the hidden and often tacit, unspoken nature of culture and space, one could think of Edward T Hall’s books. I happen to own four of his books, namely, The Fourth Dimension in Architecture (1975); The Hidden Dimension (1966); The Silent Language (1973); and Beyond Culture (1976). The first one mentioned is the shortest; and the last one is the longest.

Regarding sociohistorical viewpoints, societal discourses and power dynamics with respect to how power, knowledge and social control shape human experience and identity, one way of looking at the problem or issue of social construction is through the works of Michel Foucault, a French philosopher, social theorist and historian of ideas whom I admire, and who has been well credited for his critical studies of social institutions, most notably psychiatry (Madness and Civilization), social anthropology of medicine (The Birth of the Clinic [1963]), the human sciences (The Order of Things [1966], The Archaeology of Knowledge [1969], The History of Sexuality [1976]) and the prison system (Discipline and Punish [1975]), at least to the extent that the social construction of history is an (un)necessary evil, so to speak. The explication and insightful analysis of critical theory and ethics in relation to Foucault and Habermas in the light of social/moral philosophy and postmodernism can shed some good insights.

            Yours sincerely,

Thanks, in the past I have read all of the authors you named but particularly Ed Hall in my early days in Psych training. I was also very fond of Thomas Szasz. Later I encountered Habermas and Foucault while in grad school. There are so many authors who are now history but who have laid a foundation for what we know and think now. My all time favorites besides Kahneman and Tversky was my mentor Dr. Ed. Deming. I worked with him and his ideas for nine years until he died in 1993. The most brilliant man I have ever personally known. I still hear his thoughts and fond sayings every day in my head.

                Dear Dr John Persico Jr,

I have enjoyed our lively conversations here. Yes, we shall always remember and treasure our best teachers and mentors. Indeed, we stand on the shoulders of giants.

There is always a great deal that can be learnt from critical theory or critical sociology in relation to social philosophy as propounded by Jürgen Habermas, Herbert Marcuse, Theodor Adorno, Walter Benjamin, Erich Fromm and Max Horkheimer. Do you have a favourite among the aforementioned six, and why?

Of the six, I like Adorno the most, for he and I have a number of things in common: multidisciplinarity, musicality and writing in very long sentences. Having been a multidisciplinary academic, I am always very interested in, and have been heartened by, the skill and freedom of expressing complex ideas and findings. Have I been in any way guilty of or prone to unnecessary “obfuscation” and “prolixity”? My experience regarding what constitutes desirable or reasonable sentential length and how well people deal with it, is that both largely depend on the background and expertise of the readers as well as the competence and sophistication of the writer in question. Many of my sentences exceed 200 words, and some regularly reach a few hundreds, even approaching 700 or 800 words. It is not unusual in my writings that a whole paragraph comprises a few long sentences or even just one expansive sentence. On the whole, the longer a sentence, the more crucial that it has clear expression, logical structure and proper punctuations. Yes, I have to concede that some folks (whether they are academics or just laypersons) may consider my writing style, sentential length and even post length to belong to the category of an extreme outlier. Nevertheless, most of my posts have received plenty of likes and comments. For whatever reason(s), “The Quotation Fallacy” and “Misquotation Pandemic and Disinformation Polemic: Mind Pollution by Viral Falsity” are two of my most popular posts. The former has garnered 261 comments and 761 likes; whereas the latter has also garnered 261 comments but just 472 likes. My third most commented post is “Growing Humanity with Artificial Intelligence: A Sociotechnological Petri Dish with Latent Threats, Existential Risks and Challenging Prospects️“, which receives 215 comments and 286 likes. Somehow, one may conclude that I must have done something right despite being an extreme outlier.

                Yours sincerely,

Of the six, the one I read the most of was Erich Fromm. This was back in what I should call my psychology period when most of my reading was in the Psych area. I admired and was inspired by much that Fromm wrote though for the life of me I cannot remember what it was now. I have gone through quite a few epochs in my readings and literature. From sci-fi, to plays, to poetry, to fiction, to sword and sorcery, to psych, to economics to political science, to environmental literature , I could go on but I can safely claim that I have been a “jack of all trades” and a master of none. I used to go the the Gustav Adolphus Nobel Conference every year for three days and immerse myself in whatever topic was the subject of their conference. Alas, living in AZ, I no longer go to the conference. It was very inspiring and the conversations during breaks and dinners added a great deal to the education value of the conference. This year on Oct 6th and 7th, the conference will take up the topic of the Mississippi River. This conference invites us to challenge conventional definitions by considering the dynamic intersections of geological forces, biological communities, human cultures and ecological systems. Anyway, blogs like yours are my primary source of cognitive stimulation these days along with a radio show that I host every other week in Pinal County for Veterans. John
